About Us:  Ted Lee Williams, Jimmy Keith and Dr. Rob Whitehead are the heart and soul of Green Room Board Co. We are a group of surfers from vastly different backgrounds who were serendipitously brought together to produce the best resin systems known to man.  Our shared passion involves being in the water and we take few things as seriously as the equipment we ride.  In our continuing quest to improve what we ride, we developed our own resin for ourselves, which has allowed us to bring the best products to the industry and you.

Resin History:  Rob Whitehead was a Green Room customer.  He had been buying blanks and glass from the Green Room.  Before December 2005, he had picked up the last Clark Foam 7'4"R that Ted had in stock.  Ted said, "Don't worry; we have some more on order."  Unfortunately, that same year we were shocked when suddenly there was no more Clark Foam.  Shortly after that, Rob went to see Ted and Jimmy to find out what they were going to do without Clark.  They made the decision right away to go to 100% EPS/Epoxy.  Jimmy soon found that he was not satisfied with any of the surfboard epoxies on the market.  He started talking to Rob about the epoxy Rob had formulated for his sailboards.   Rob told Jimmy that he could formulate a custom surfboard epoxy blend for him if he would be willing to do some experimentation.  Jimmy and Ted were more than willing to put the effort in to improve the surfboards they were making.  And so it began; every week or so Rob would show up with a couple of quarts of epoxy and hardener, and Jimmy would glass a team board.  Each time, Jimmy would make his comments and Rob would head back to the lab to try again.  On the seventh go-round of formulas, Jimmy was getting pretty stoked on how the boards were coming out.

How Green Room Old #7 Epoxy Got Its Name: As the process went on, the formula was continually refined. Rob emerged from the lab and brought by formula number eight.  Well, one of the additives in this trial smelled like......well, it did not smell good.  So Jimmy said, "Bring me some more of that one from before - formula number seven."  It was used by Jimmy for more than a year before it went on the open market as Green Room Old # 7.

Green Room and BGF Aerialite team up:  Green Room has been a dedicated customer of Aerialite cloth for years. Their quality and service are simply unsurpassed. As our epoxy was being developed, we began talking with BGF about the possibility of producing a surfboard cloth specifically for epoxy users.

Although their A218 cloth can be used with epoxy, it was developed for use with polyester resins. And so, we began a second set of experimentation, this time with BGF supplying variations of their surfboard cloth with epoxy specific finishes. Again, many trials down the road, we hit upon a great product. The new Aerialite 660 finish combines the exceptional whiteness, handling, and wet out of their other products with an exclusive functionality that produces a true chemical bond with Green Room epoxy.
